Jeff Davison

After graduating from Huntington Beach high school in 1978 I moved to Oregon to work on a fire fighting crew cutting fire lines at and above tree line. This instilled a true feeling of hard work, open spaces, fresh cut wood and vegitation. By 1980 it was time to return to my home town where a job was waiting for me as a welder. This paid the bills and gave me a chance to make picture frames and other wooden objects for myself , family and friends. In 1986 the woman of my dreams and her 2 sons entered my life and were married in 1988. Needless to says the honey do list appeared so I made furniture for the aparttment. By 1995 we were blessed with a daughter, a house with a graage fit for a work shop. These and another honey do lists made for a happy wood worker. More tools rolled in and furniture to remodel the house rolled out. In 2002 a small lathe entered the shop and I was bitten by the turning bug. The Obsession grew and the size of the lathe had to grow as well. As the number and size of the turnings grew, friends and family suggested I sell my work or biuld a room onto the house. Sales venues are less daunting than building codes, so the art shows I went. Working with freshly cut trees produces beautiful turnings piles of shavings and serious chain sawing. Art shows, galleries, festivals, and fairs are my main venues for display.
